JESSICA AND JORDAN | GOLD COAST WEDDING | THE ISLAND
Some love stories start with a grand romantic gesture. Jess and Jordan's started at an 18th birthday party in a small Victorian country town - where he was absolutely trashed and she was the designated driver.
Not exactly the stuff of romance novels. But sometimes the best love stories start with the least likely beginnings.
Jordan had no idea who Jess was - she'd gone to boarding school outside of town and they'd somehow grown up in the same place without ever crossing paths. They went on a few dates, but Jordan didn't have his licence yet and Jess headed back to boarding school, and that was that. The spark fizzled before it really had a chance to catch.
Then Jess moved to Melbourne for a cadetship program. A few months in, she decided to quit and move back home. The spark reignited. And six years later - on a perfectly ordinary Sunday watching the cricket, with both families casually gathered at the house (because in a small country town, nobody bothers with formal introductions - everyone already knows everyone) - Jordan popped the question.
No grand gesture. No elaborate setup. Just the two of them, after everyone had gone home, on what Jess described as a very perfect day.
The wedding date? July 2nd - their six year anniversary. Obviously.
The Venue — The Island, Gold Coast
For two country kids from Victoria, choosing the Gold Coast as their wedding destination was a deliberate decision - and The Island was the perfect fit. Sophisticated, warm and beautifully designed, it's a venue that feels both elevated and relaxed at the same time. Exactly like Jess and Jordan themselves.
With guests flying in from Victoria and interstate, The Island gave everyone a reason to make a weekend of it on the Gold Coast - and the venue delivered in every way. The light inside is genuinely stunning to work with, and the surrounding Gold Coast location opened up incredible possibilities for couple portraits that balanced the urban elegance of the venue with something a little more natural and free.
Jess had one request for couple photos - she'd love to venture down to the beach at some point. We made it happen.
The Day
Planning a destination wedding from interstate is no small feat. Jess knew she needed a team who weren't going to add to the stress - people who would take things off her plate, be honest when it mattered and just make the whole thing feel easy.
From the very first call, something clicked.
"Our first call with Sean was extremely laid back, and that's what just made me go - that is my wedding photographer. Nothing was a big deal. Just exactly what you need as a bride."
On the day, the full Sean Reefman Photography team was there - photographer, videographer and second shooter, all working seamlessly together. That's the difference of having everyone under one roof. No crossed wires, no competing agendas, just one cohesive team moving through the day in sync.
"They were like ninjas on the night - no one saw them or heard from them, but it's like they were everywhere all at once. We had so many compliments from guests saying how great they were."
Three weeks after the wedding, the full gallery landed - and the highlight film wasn't far behind. Then came the best kind of problem to have.
"The only issue I have with Sean's work is that I have too many photos to choose from and I don't know which ones to blow up and put on my wall."
In Their Words
"Sean made everything just so chill and relaxed. Having someone who just took all the stress off was so crucial to me - and Sean definitely did that. He was super organised, with regular check-ins and little sneak peeks after the wedding.
The only problem I have with Sean's work is that I have too many photos to choose from and I don't know which ones to blow up and put on my wall - which is a great problem to have.
My one word of advice: get a team you can communicate well with, who has your best interest at heart and can be honest with you. And if you are lucky enough - try and secure Sean Reefman, because he will not disappoint."
