ALYCE & DAVID | WYNMERE ESTATE WEDDING | GOLD COAST HINTERLAND

Some weddings stay with you long after the last photo is delivered. Alyce and David's was one of those.

Their story started the way the best ones often do — through a mutual friend, with a little help from circumstance. Both living in Sydney, both separately returning to Brisbane during COVID in 2020, they found themselves back in the same city at the same time without even knowing it. They moved back to Sydney within days of each other too. When they finally met for the first time a few days after that, it just clicked. The kind of easy, natural connection that makes a first meeting feel more like a reunion.

David proposed at Stanwell Tops, south of Sydney, on one of their regular early morning drives — the kind of spontaneous weekend ritual that felt completely ordinary right up until it wasn't. He'd told Alyce he wanted to photograph her with the view behind her, asked her to turn away from the camera — and when she turned back around, he was on one knee. They spent the rest of that day in a float tank, had a special dinner together that night, and drove to Brisbane the next day to celebrate with family. Simple, personal, and completely them.

For their wedding, Alyce and David chose Wynmère Estate — a boutique venue set against the rainforest of Tamborine Mountain, inspired by the quiet elegance of European estates. With their vision of classic, minimalist elegance — whites, deep greens and the occasional hit of rich burgundy to honour the winter season — it was an absolutely perfect match. Just 40 minutes from the Gold Coast and an hour from Brisbane, the private estate sits amidst the lush rainforest of Tamborine Mountain, with manicured gardens and timeless architecture inspired by English Georgian design. Every corner of the property feels considered and refined — and it photographs beautifully in every light.

What made this wedding particularly special was the intention behind it. Alyce and David had deliberately moved the date forward so that Alyce's mum — and all of their immediate family — could be there to share in the day. Rather than a traditional bridal party, the focus was on the people who matter most: immediate family, closest friends, real moments. The group photos that matter here aren't the posed ones — they're the ones caught mid-laugh at cocktail hour, the quiet moments between family members, the tears during the ceremony. That's exactly what I set out to capture, and I think we got it.

Alyce mentioned she gets a little self-conscious in front of the camera, and neither of them are naturally "posey" people. But that's genuinely not a problem when a couple are as quietly, genuinely in love as these two. A little direction, some time to settle in, and the natural warmth between them does the rest. The portraits from this day are some of my favourites — understated, elegant, and completely real.

Lisa Laker from Lisa Laker Marriage Maker led a ceremony that was everything this couple asked for — intimate, heartfelt, and full of meaning. Pop Up Event Co brought the floral and styling vision to life beautifully, with arrangements that felt perfectly at home against the refined backdrop of the estate. WithPhilippa had Alyce looking absolutely stunning, Ridgeway Catering delivered the kind of food and service that has guests still talking about it weeks later, and Hive Entertainment rounded out the night perfectly. Ashleigh Lauren Creative was on content creation duties alongside me — always great to have a strong team around you on a day like this.

The Grand Reception Hall at Wynmère is lined with traditional French windows that let natural light pour in throughout the day, and by night the room glows under sparkling vintage chandeliers. For a winter wedding with deep burgundy accents and an intimate guest list of people who genuinely love each other, it was the most fitting room imaginable.

Alyce and David — thank you for trusting me with one of the most meaningful days of your lives. It was an absolute honour.

“Sean was nothing short of phenomenal as our wedding photographer at Wynmére Estate. From the moment we met Sean, his enthusiasm and passion for his craft were evident. He went above and beyond our expectations, capturing both the big moments and the small details with incredible creativity.

His ability to make us feel comfortable throughout the day resulted in natural, beautiful shots that truly reflect the joy of our wedding. The final photos were absolutely stunning and each image felt like a work of art. We couldn’t be happier with the memories he’s given us.

If you’re looking for a photographer who is talented, dedicated, and genuinely passionate about his work, we cannot recommend Sean highly enough.”
